An osprey with its fresh-caught fish, Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, Dare County, North Carolina, near the Outer Banks. The osprey is a large fish-eating raptor, with a 6 foot (1.8 meter) wingspan. They are found in temperate and tropical regions of all continents except Antarctica. They are common in spring and summer on the Outer Banks.
