SpaceShipOne and White Knight on display in AeroShell Square, Airventure 2005, Oshkosh, Wisconsin. In September and October 2004, Mike Melvill and Brian Binnie each piloted the Burt Rutan designed spacecraft to altitudes exceeding 62 miles (100 kilometers), claiming the Ansari X Prize for the first successful civilian spacecraft.
