Description
A mallard hen (above) and drake (below) flying over Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge in eastern North Carolina during an early April morning. Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) can be found in almost any wetland habitat. They are equally happy in a marshland preserve or the pond in a city park.
