Description
A sure sign that winter is coming! Tundra Swan(Cygnus columbianus) have returned to Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge in eastern North Carolina, mid November. These swans nest and breed in the extreme Arctic region of Canada and Alaska. They migrate to the middle eastern coast and the central and north western coast of the continental United States for winter. Pocosin Lakes is a favorite vacation spot, and is actively managed to welcome their wintertime visit.
